Camp

As a child, I had a rock collection and most of those rocks came from Delta Lake. As an adult, I still seldom go down to the lake at camp without picking up a few rocks. And yes, some of them make it back in my suitcase. I've spent every summer of my life at Delta Lake camp in Central New York. We've made the trip from Ohio, from Georgia, from South Florida and even from South Texas. I couldn't ask for a better place for my kids to ride their bikes, roam freely, make friends, explore nature and  hear from God.

We didn't make it up this summer because we were preoccupied with welcoming the newest member of our family but we did finally manage a trip earlier this month.

There was a conference going on while we were there with a lot of Chinese students from Syracuse University. The kids watched some of them cracking open rocks to find fossils. So, of course, this led to hours of fossil finding.

Digging rocks out of the side of the hill.
It was pretty cool to see the different layers of earth and to wonder how many hundreds of years those rocks had been buried.

Rocks
I not only can't help collecting them, I also take pictures of them.

We don't have the right kind of rocks for this craft at home, but here there was an unlimited supply!
